Teaching Experience
Adjunct Instructor, Southern Methodist University, Fall 2011
I designed and taught an introductory course in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam for 35 students. Focusing on issues of globalization and religious diversity, I selected texts, designed assignments, and developed the syllabus and evaluation matrices. In addition, I kept office hours to meet with students outside of class in order to help them better grasp the material.
Teaching Assistant, Southern Methodist University, Fall 2010
Under the supervision of Dr. Johan Elverskog, I taught one hour of each three – hour weekly course meeting for an undergraduate introductory course in Asian Religions. In addition, I graded essays and met with students outside of class time to assist them.
Adjunct Instructor, Colorado Mountain College, 2006 - 2008
I taught Introductory courses in Philosophy and Ethics for four semesters at the Chaffee County campus of this multiple location community college. Focusing on primary sources in philosophy, I selected texts and supplemental readings, developed syllabi, assignments, and evaluation matrices, and taught classes ranging in size from six to 20 students.

Professional Development Co-Coordinator, 2009 – 2010
A colleague and I in the PhD program at SMU created and coordinated a series of faculty-led talks on professional development for scholars, covering such topics as pedagogy, interviewing, academic politics, integrating scholarship, teaching, and professional service.
Coordinator, Conversations on Teaching and Learning, August 2011 – Present
Conversations on Teaching and Learning is a series of seminars on pedagogy and the teaching vocation co-led by two faculty at each of six annual meetings. This pilot program is funded by a grant from the Wabash Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Theology. As coordinator, I am responsible for recruiting faculty co-leaders for each session and organizing all aspects of the meetings including meals, room reservations, dispersing funds, reporting and tracking outcomes for the grant. In addition, I am responsible for sharing the results of the program upon its completion by publishing articles and creating panel presentations at meetings of scholars and teachers.
